LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

TO-MORROW'S MATCH.

SYDNEY CHAMPIONS AGAIN.

REINFORCED' PONSONBY SIDE.

At Carlaw Park to-morrow afternoon the; Sydney club champion team, Western Suburbs, will again appear, this time against a reinforced Ponsonby team. Playing open and spectacular football, the visitors have set a standard in their three matches to which the local club players have risen in rather surprising fashion, with the result that these games have been full of thrill and incident, with interest sustained to the end —a. narrow win against Mariats, a drew with Newton and a very narrow loss agnrnst Richmond.

Ponsonby has a local reputation for fast, clean football, requiring but a little stiffening in spots to make the side a champion one. Arrangements have been made which will probably result in Hardgrave, of Mount Albert, being in centre threequarter position, with maybe Lang and Donald, of Devonport, also being in the side. With this blend the general nippiness which distinguishes Ponsonby should be given a chance to show out, and their defence should be strengthened.

The Sydney team will no doubt be much the same as that against Richmond on Saturday.

Ponsonby will be selected from:—Jones, Kay, Hardgrave, Lang, Shercr, Stockley (2), Riley, Keesing, Halloran, Herring, Davis, Blood (2), Donald, Hutt, Browne.
