BUSINESS LIVENS UP.
BANK OF NEW ZEALAND FIRM
Business on the Auckland Stock Exchange brightened up perceptibly yesterday afternoon, and a big list of sales was put through at the 3.15 p.m. call, while another fair-sized list was added this morning. Sales have covered a wide range, with late values generally fully maintained. In the banking section New Zealands continued firm, and alter business at £2 S/0 the market this morning was steady between £2 S/0 and £2 8/8. Insurances were strongly held, and offers of £4 12/ for South British and £3 7/0 for New Zealand failed to bring business. Government stocks were, again in keen request at late rates, with holders standing off. Forty-sixes were available at £109 5/ and 40 - s at£loS 10/. Dukemiro Collieries were quoted ex dividend, with buyers at £1. Values Steady at Noon. Values were steady, with moderate trading at noon. Bank of New Zealands held their slight rise, and closed between £2 8/4 and £2 8/9. Pukemiros were quoted 3d lower at £1 2/3, after buyers had advanced their limits by Od. Holders of Devonport Ferries came in at £1 6/ and of Gear Meat at £1 8/. SALES COMPLETED. AT THE 3.10 P.lVl.
