AUCKLAND PETITIONS.
REPORTS TO HOUSE. (By Telegraph.—'Parliamentary Ke&oiter.) WELLINGTON, this day. Several petitions of Auckland interest were reported upon by Select Committees in the House of Representatives yesterday. A request by Mrs. Mary M. Bidwell, of Auckland, that she be granted a pension in respect of her late husband's war service has been referred to the Government for most favourable consideration. No rccommen.iation was made respecting the application of E. C. McCormack, of Matamata, for further compensation for the loss of his wife and child and for personal injuries suffered during the Waimangu Geyser eruption in 1917. Similar findings were returned on the petitions of H. C. Wheeler, of Kaipara. for compensation for the loss of £2843, allegedly due to erroneous valuation of his land by the Valuation Department; and J. E.Curran, of Auckland, for redress on account of alleged wrongful arrest and imprisonment.
Recommending the petition to the Government for most favourable consideration, the Public Petitions Committee urged that a weekly allowance be made during the further period of his disability to J. Chulav, of Auckland, who asked that effect be given to the recommendations on his previous petitions to the House.
