WEEK-END PRICES IN SHOPS.

BEEP QUOTATIONS ADVANCE. VEGETABLES PLENTIFUL AND CHEAP. Following the higher prices ruling for fat cattle at the sales, the master butchers advanced the retail prices of most cuts of beef one halfpenny 'to one penny per pound on Thursday. Ox kidneys advanced twopence, and dripping is a penny per pound dearer. Quotations for mutton, veal and pork were unaltered.

Supplies of both hen and duck eggs are heavy, and the' low prices still continue.

The markets are heavily supplied with all vegetables, with the exception of kumaras and pumpkins. A few kumaras are expected shortly from the Islands, also 5000 cases of tomatoes, as well as some cucumbers and bananas. Some hothousegrown runner beans are being sent in, and a few green peas are offering. South Australian oranges in store now require to be repacked, which will add to the cost. Dried bananas are offered at 1/3 per package.

Egos. First grade hen eggs, lid per dozen; duck, lOd per dozen. Bacon and Hams. Bacon, in cuts, 9d to 1/1 per lb; rashers, 1/3; whole hams, 1/1 per lb; ham rashers, 1/4 per lb. Butter and Cheese. First grade factory butter, 1/ per lb, cash across the counter, Id extra when booked; second grade, lOd per lb; farmers' butter, !)d per lb. Cheese: Mild, full cream, 9d to 1/ per lb; medium, matured, 1/2 to 1/3 per lb. Fruit. Dessert apples, 3d to 4d per lb; cookers, 2d per lb; Winter Cole and Winter Nelis pears. 3d to 4d per lb; Island oranges, 2/ to 3/ dozen; South Australian, 2/ to 3/ dozen; mandarins, 8 for 1/; lemons, 1/ dozen; bananas, 3d to 4d per lb; hothouse tomatoes, 1/6 to 1/9 per lb; Island, lOd per lb; pines, Queensland, 9d to 1/6 each; Calif ornian plums, 1/ per lb; passion fruit, 2/ per dozen; tree tomatoes, 4d to Cd per lb; Calif ornian grapefruit, 5d each; others, 2d to 3d each; Californian white grapes 1/ to 1/2 per lb, red 1/4 to 1/6 per lb; Island cucumbers, 3d to 8d each.
