MR. HALES APPOINTED
STATE ADVANCES TRANSFER. IVTR, McDONALD'S SUCCESSOR. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Mr. E. O. Hales, superintendent of the State Advances Department, has been appointed Public Trustee in succession to Mi 1 . J. W. McDonald, who died recently. Mr. Everett Olive Hales was appointed superintendent of the . State Advances Department in .1931. He was born in Wellington, being a eon of W. 11. Hales, formerly Engineer-in-Chief of the Public Works Department. Educated at Wellington College, he joined the headquarters staff of the Public Trust Office
in 181)4, and rose to the position of inspectoi. He was later deputy-Public Trustee in Dr.nedin and Auckland. In 1021 he became assistant Public Trustee. As a sportsman Mr. Hales represented Wellington at cricket and football, and for some time was chairman of the Wellington Rugby Union.
