SUICIDE BY ACCIDENT.
If a man intends taking liis life an then dies by accident while making th attempt, is it a case of suicide? A inquest jury at Woodkirk, Yorkshire decided that it is. These were th remarkable facts which led to theii decision. A man, aged 54, of Tingley was climbing through a fence surround ing a 120-foot-deep quarry ostensibly to commit suicide. According to two 10-year-old boys, his cap was knocked off by the top rail of the fence. He made a grab at it and overbalanced, falling backwards into the quarry. The verdict of "Suicide while of unsound mind" was returned after the widow had stated that her husband had attempted suicide nine years before and had beeu in & mental hospital.
