APPLES ARE PLENTIFUL,. ORANGES SELL WELL. XEW SEASON'S PEAS AND BEANS. There am,still very large quantities of apples coming forward to the marls, and the demand is rather dull. "For dessert pears in poor condition there 'ifi little request', but good quality lines have a fair sale. Oranges are Helling well, although larpo nixes arc neglected in comparison with smaller ones. Ripe bananas arc in short; .supply, and realise pood prices. Island tomatoes have been available, and have Rokl at 10/ to 11/ per case. Local hothouse have cojuo forward more freely, and values are slishtly lower. American ftrapes are rather dull of sale, and Queensland pines arc available at low rates. Oranges: South Aiwtraliar, 10/ to 24/, according to count. Lemons: Cured, 3/ to 8/; others, 2/ to 4/8. Mandarins: Australian, 21/ to 27/0. Grapefruit: New Zealand, lar.se, 0/0 to 7/0: small, 3/ to 5/; C'alil'ornian. 32/0. Tomatoes: Island, 10/ to 11/; hothouse-. Od to 1/OVi per Jb. Bananas: 18/ to 25/. Tree tomatoes: 3/0 to 0/6. Pines: Queensland. 0/ to 11/. Grapes: Californian, reds, 20/ to 27/0; black, 28/; white, .25/. Coconuts: 14/. Vegetables. K"e*v potatoes are comhifi in more freely froni a number of suburban districts", and also from Pukekohe. but the market is still chiefly euppJied with Southern, of which largo quantities are available. At this morning's auction the advent of spring weather wne indicated by small consignments of green peas, French arid broad beans. Asparagus is becoming more plentiful each W'cejk. Cauliflowers and cabbages have been in fair supply. Quotations are:—-Potatoes: New. Xo. 1, l%d to 2%d per lb: Xo. 2, 3/ to 4/ bag; Southern, 4/ti to 5/0 e:\vt. Selling rates were as follow: — Cockerels: Heavy breeds, prime. 4/15 to 0/ each; not prime, 3/ upwards; light breeds, prime, 3/ to 4/0; not prime, 2/6 upwards, Fat roosters: Heavy breeds, prime, 2/ to 2/6; 'light breeds, 1/6 to 1/9. Fat hens: Heavy breeds, 3/ to 4/; light 'breeds, 2/ to 2/9. Pullets: Heavy breeds, best, 3/ to 4/0: smaller, 1/ upwards; light broeds. best. 2/0 to 4/; smaller. 1/0 upwards. Drakes: Young, prime, 2/3 to 3/3; smaller, 1/0 upwards; old, 1/6 to 2/. Ducks: Young. 1/0 to 2/0; old. 1/0 to 2/. Turkey hens: 4/ to 0/; gobblers. C/G to 14/7 Cockerels: Heavy breeds.
