GERALDINE MEETING. SOME SHAMBLE WINS CUP. PALERMO THE SQUATTERS'. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) GERALDINE, Thursday. First favourites did remarkably well at the opening of the Geraldine Racing Club's spring meeting to-day, gaining four wins aud four seconds, so that every one returned a dividend. The New Zealand Cup candidates Some Shamble, Davolo and Kanelagh filled the places in the principal event, the Geraldine Cup. The weather was unfavourable, the last race being run in steady rain. The totalisator handled £7121, compared with £6875 on the first day last year, an increase of £240. Later results are:— GERALDINE CUP of £140. One mile and a quarter. 4—SOME SHAMBLE, S.O—G. Red Dance and Horowhenua were the early leaders. The field bunched along the back and Ked Racer was first into the straight from Prince Val and Davolo. A line finish saw Some Shamble boat Davolo by half a head, with Kanelagh two lengths away, third. Horowhenua was fourth. Time, 2.9. GERALDINE TROT of £105. e One mile and a half.
