QUAINT MANX OATH.
The Deemster, an official who adminieters the laws of the Isle of Man, takes a. quaint oath, handed down from a ""By this Book and the holy contents thereof, and by the wonderful works that God hath miraculously wrought in Heaven above and in the earth beneath, I do ewear that I will, without respect or favour of friendehip, love, or gain, envy or malice, execute the laws of this island justly and as indifferently as the herring backbone both lie in the midst of the" fish." . While the law of evidence in the Isle of Man courts is in most respects similar to that in England there are slight variations in the method or procedure.
