FERRY PROPOSED.
NORTHERN WAIROA RIVER. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DARGAVILLE, this day. An endeavour it> being made to open for' traffic a ferry across the Northern Wairoa River between Raupo and Tikinui. It is held that this would serve a useful purpose for cream collection, for the Ruawai Co-operative Dairy Company, whose lorry at present makes a daily trip of fifty miles each way, passing through Dargaville and across the Northern Wairoa River Bridge. The Olninate'n. and Hobson counties made a big expenditure several years ago, but the project fell through. A conference has been arranged to take place between those bodies next Wednesday to discuss the proposition.
