Mr. J. Sen brook returned from Weli lington by the Limited this morning. The Hon. C. .1. Carrington, M.L.C., arrived from Wellington this morning. Mr. E, C. McKinlay, jnr., has been elected representative of Hikurangi and Kaino town districts on tho Whangarei Hospital Board. Mr. R. C. Cherrie, tlie sitting member, did not seek re-election. Mr. C. R. C. Gardiner, resident manager of the New Zealand Insurance Co., Ltd.. in Bombay, arrived at Wellington by the Tainui from London on Tuesday, and is making a holiday tour of the Dominion, on his way back to India. Mr. J. A. C. Allum, chairman of the Auckland Transport. Board, and Mr. J. Stanton, solicitor to the board, left for Wellington by the Limited last night on business in connection with the Auckland Transport Board Empowering Bill now before Parliament. , Mr. A. O. Edwards, chairman and managing director of Grosvenor House, London, left London on August 10 for a tour of Canada, New Zealand, Australia and South Africa. Mr. Edwards lias entered his racing aeroplane Grosvenor House for the London-Mel-1 bourne air race in October, and will be in Melbourne for the finish. He is due to arrive at Auckland on October 1, and will be staying at the Grand Hotel.
