CLAY-BIRD SHOOTING.

TAKAPUNA GUN CLUB. A good muster of shooters and visitors attenueu the usual monthly ciay bird snoot of tne Takapuna Uun Club at Barry's l'oiut, Tauupuna, on Saturday. Windy conditions pre iuued, consequently very lew possibles were recorded uunng the afternoon s shoot by tue competitors. Detailed results :— 7-Bird Eye-opener Sweep.—L. J. Henderson (lUydsj was tue only shooter to shoot the pbssiule of seven birds to take first sweep money. J. Miller (16yds) and J. Brown (ltiyds) both shot six birds each and divided the second sweep money. J. McGregor (15yds) and It. L. Baxter both snot live birds each. 10-Bird Trophy Match (principal event). L. J. Henderson (10yds) and F. 11. Seccombe (17yds) both shot 13 birds each, L. J. Henderson winning the trophy out- [ right.' F. H. Seccombe (the donor), not • being a competitor for the trophy, took I the first sweep money. Both these shooters used their second barrels three times only, a fine performance considering, the difficult conditions for shooting. J. McGregor (15yds), R. >S. Mowbray (15yds), J. Brown (16yds), J. Miller (16yds) and W. It. Ayton (14yds) all tied with 12 birds each and divided the second sweep money. Johnnie Walker Challenge Cup and Medallions Match.—ln this match, held in conjunction with the 15-bird trophy match, Takapuna B team (J. McGregor, captain, 15yds, R. S. Mowbray 15yds, J, Bfown 16yds and J. Miller 16yds), with the total score of 48 points out of 60 points, beat the holders, Takapuna A team (L. J. Henderson, captain, 16yds, F. Kay-Stratton 17yds, J. Rees-George 15yds, and F. 11. Seccombe 17yds, who scored 44 points out of 60 points. The holders have successfully defended the cup on the two previous occasions a challenge has been put in. 7-Bird Walk-up Sweep.—W. R. Ayton and R. S. Mowbray both shot five birds each. In the shoot-off Mowbray won on the tenth bird and took the sweep money. 7-Bird Gymcrack Sweep.—.T. Miller (1319yds) and F. H. Seccombe (14-20 yds) both shot the possible of seven birds and divided the sweep money. .T. Brown (1318yds) and F. Kay-Stratton (14-19 yds) tied for second place with six birds each. 5-Bird Special Match.—A special challenge m'i>tch of five birds between President J. McGregor and F. H. Seccombe on the "walk-up" principle was won by F. H. Seccombe after a keen shoot-off. The next trophy shoot of the club will take place on Saturday, September 29, at 2 p.m.
