LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
JUNIOR MANAGEMENT AFFAIRS At the meeting of the junior management committee of the Auckland Rugby League last evening, Mr. D. Wilkie presiding, <i complaint was referred to the Referees' Association about the failure of referees in junior matches to deduct time for stoppages; and also the necessity of obtaining the signatures on team cards of players whose bona fides were questioned. An application by the Manukau third intermediate B team to travel to Whangarei was left in the hands of the emergency committee. Players were nominated from third open teams for the medal being presented by Mr. J. F. W. Dickson. Other nominations have yet to come. The Xgaruawahia Club, which recently defeated Marist third intermediates by 22—19 at Xgaruawahia, sought a match at an early date at Carlaw Park, and the board decided to favourably recommend a fixture. Mr. I. Stonex said the country side was a very 6trong one. A third intermediate Akarana player was suspended for a Saturday for_ using offensive language on the field. A Newton sixth grader was severely cautioned for retaliating when struck by an opponent. Of two Devonport seventh grade players, one was suspended for abusing the referee on the sideline when ordered off, and the other severely cautioned for misbehaviour on the field. A matter in connection with a coach taking his team off the field four minutes from time when 1 his team was losing, 9 —o. was dealt with in committee, and adjourned for further consideration. It was decided to hold a conference of ajl junior club representatives in a fortnight to discuss matters considered to be advantageous to the control and general well-being of the game.
