LEAGUE FOOTBALL.
WATANGI SHIELD. MID-WEEK MAORI MATCH. The first official Wednesday match of the season at Carlaw Park will take place tO-morrow at 3 p.m.. when the newlyformed Tamaki (Auckland) team will play Waikato to decide which thirteen will challenge Tainnaki, first holders of the Woiitangi Interprovincial Maori Shield. A great deal of interest is being taken in the fixture and the game is expected to be spectacular and fast. The Waikatos, chosen by Messrs. W. Paid, T. Mahuta and G. Asher, make no secret of it that they are out to win and thus have the honour of "meeting Taranaki subsequently at tlie important native ceremonial gathering to be held at Huntly. The Tamaki team comprises the cream of Auckland senior players. The teams are as follow: — Waikato. — J. Cooper (Taukau), N. Tauhou (Huntly), B. Paid (Huntly), -R. Cooper (Tirakau), T.
