CRIME PUNISHED.
YOUTHFUL LAW BREAKERS. RECENT BURGLARIES. Three men who had admitted recent burglaries, two of them being young men, were sentenced at the Supremo Court this morning by Mr. Justice Fttir. Tnu are a very young man and as a boy apparently showed yourself impatient of control," his Honor said to Ronald Url Moore, whose offence was breaking and entering a warehouse and stealing from it. Mr. Mellsop had emphasised that prisoner was only 17} years of age and that his relatives were prepared to <rivo him a home. Mr. R. Meredith, for the Crown, said that Moore appeared to bo incorrigible and that his offence was quite n desperate one. His Honor said that prisoner had no need to steal, for his uncle had given him employment, but lie had come to Auckland on two occasions and broken into premises. In sentencing Moore to two years' detention in a Borstal institution, his Honor advised him to endeavour to settle down to whatever training was chosen for him, and not try to escape, as he had done when in the custody of the Child Welfare Department previously. Joseph Wilson had nothing to say in connection with theft from a whare. His Honor mentioned prisoner's previous record and sentenced him to six months' hard labour. When brought up for sentence for having instruments oMiorsebreaking .in his possession and breaking into the Presbyterian Church at Mount Eden, Arthur Henry Watts asked for a further chance. "You had your chance in May last at Otahuhu, when you were ordered to come up for sentence in six months if called upon on three charges of theft," said his Honor. Prisoner, aaed 20, was sentenced to 12 months' hard labour.
