AUCKLAND AMATEURS. At Te Atatu the A.A.A. and C.C. held a 235-mile Continental handicap race in the best weather conditions for many weeks. Seniors and juniors combined for this race. The finis-h saw Patrick cross the line, slowing up to finish several lengths in front of R. King. Close behind eoine Price, Richardson, Tucker, Phillips and McNeil. When the handicaps were adjusted it was found that the plaeings were:—Erne Tucker (5.0). 64.46, 1: It. King (3.30), G4.43, 2; Lcs Philips (3.30), G4.47, 3. LYNNDALE CLUB. Ideal weather and good roads made racing very pleasant for cyclists of the L.A.A.C.C. this afternoon, when junior and senior races were conducted over their circuit at New Lynn. A line muster of juniors faced the starter. Detailed results :— R. Hansen (2.15), 3G.8, 1; T. Johnson (2.45), 36.32, 2; It. Kirclier (3.30), 30.55, 3; R. Campbell (1.15), 20.30, 4. Fastest times: G. Hughes broke the lap record, reducing it to 9.30. BEACH HAVEN CLUB. The Beach Haven Amateur Cycling C'u'i held a combined race over a course of 30.6 miles. Result :—A. Venables (4.50), 42.4, 1 ; R. Klia (5.30). 43.14 1-5, 2; li. Tout (5.30), 43.22, 3. A. Elia (1.45), 40.8 1-5, fastest time. TAKAPUNA CLUB. The Takapuna Amateur Cycle Club held a 30 mile race over the Lake circuit for the Leader Cup. Results:—A. Chaplin (handicap. $.30), time 89.12. 1; A. Gunn (4.0), 84.59. 2; G. Williams (5.30), 80.30, 3. Fastest time. A. Parker (1.30), 53.5. MANUKAU AMATEURS. Sunny weather prevailed on Saturday when tlie Manukau Amateur Cycling Club continued its programme of road races over the Avondale South circuit. A good field of eleven lads raced in the three-lap junior race of 71 miles. The placed juniors were;—Geo. W. Holland (scr), time 21.1, 1; Ch-is. T. Dwight (scr), 21.2, 2: Ray C. Chappcll (1.30), 22.33, 3; Ron Wilson (1.30), 22.34, 4; O. C. Tucker (4.30), 26.25, 5; Joe Gillbanks (scri, 22.30, 0. Geo. Holland, scr, was also fastest In 21.1, the best junior time registered this year. Thirty-one started in the eight-lap senior race of 20 miles. The successful seniors were;— Stew. J. The fastest rider was Lionel Nicholson off 2.0, who clocked 50.14 : then came Viv. Ellis 56.17, Tom Nixon 56.19, Jack Clark 50.22, Johnnie Brown 50.27, and Arnie Keith 50.49. PAPATOETOE CLUB. The Papatoetoe Amnteur Cycling Club held a road race to Papakura and hack, a distance of 15 miles. The conditions were ideal and times were consequently fast, the fastest time being within seven seconds of the record. There were 22 competitors. Result :— J. Middleton (9.30), 43.20, 1; A. Jenkins (7.30), 42.30, 2; A. Franko (5.0), 40.10, 3; R. Waits (6.30), 41.41, 4. Fastest time, D. Pinfold (50s), 30.45. Second fastest time, It. L. Francis, (1.0), 30.0-1. ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP. The North Island championship road race for cash riders, promoted by the Auckland Cycle Club each year, will be held oil October 13. For the past four years the event has finished at I'apakura. but this year the necessary permission has been "obtained to come right through to Auckland. Thus the start of the race will now be at Hamilton, as in former years, instead of Cambridge. A fine prize-list has been compiled, with cash and trophies totalling approximately £100 LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP. The Auckland Ladies' Amateur Cycling Club held the annual club championship raco at Mount Albert on Saturday. The event was an eight-lap handicap scratch race. The fine warm weather was ideal for fast times, and Mrs. Harrison, who won the event, did exceptionally good time on each lap. She did not at any time —except in the seventh .lap—go slower than 3.0. with the result that her total time was 23.28. beating Miss Violet Bnird's record for the journey by 1.15. The Auckland Cycle Club's weekly road events were held In Ideal weather on Saturday at Tamaki, the day being all in favour of fast times. Good.
