FORGOT THE CHANGE.

BARBER'S TWO THEFTS. HOSPITAL PATIENTS' LOSS. A hairdresser who formerly attended to the tonsorial requirements of male hospital patients, Casper Rusden, aged 22, in the Police Court this morning, pleaded guilty to charges, of stealing sums of 9/6 and 19/0. Senior Detective Hall said Rusden shaved a patient in the hospital on May 27 and was given a 10/ note in payment, with a request that he should return with the change. He did not return the change, and the house manager of ; the hospital paid the 9/0 to the patient. On July 22, Rusden was given a £1 note by another patient, whom he had shaved. In this instance, too, he did not hand over the change. "Although Rusden has never previously been convicted," said Mr. Hall, "he was before the court on March 20, but the matter was adjourned for six months. By the time this period had expired he had made restitution and the accused was discharged." Mr. Aekins said Rusden vrerit off sick after receiving the 10/ note. He had paid the house manager the 9/6 which he had given the patient, and would ■ make restitution of the other 19/6 if given an opportunity. Rusden had since '< lost his position. "It is only a few months since lie was ■ given an opportunity and I think a few ! days in prison would not do him any harm," said the magistrate, who fined i Rusden £2 on the first charge and convicted and discharged him on the second. ; Rusden was ordered to make restitution Aof 19 /6. , . ;
