ONEHUNGA INVESTIGATIONS. SITE SHOWN TO EXPERTS. Investigations have been carried --vit Jt Onehunga on behalf of Pacific utesl, Limited, by representatives of Bras=er, :-nd Company, consulting and metallurgical experts, of London and Chicago, with a view to ascertaining what areas ;rs available there for the establishment of steel works close to rail and i i'rbour facilities. Mr. E. Morton, Mayor of Onehunga. s;-id this morning that his council hiicl taken the matter up with the experts rind a site of about 100 acres had bean r.Tered. It was close to the old CneJunga iron works. Plans of the knl l:;id been supplied and conditions ot < ccupancy drawn up. '•'Onehunga has facilities that should be Ideal for 6uch an industry as t"ie one proposed," said Mr. Morton. "We feci that there is a prospect of Onehunga 1 eing selected for the works and the council has given every assistance to th: experts. The site which has been pointed i.ut has fail and harbour access, it lies 1 rtween the cemetery and the railway. I'rom information supplied the propose-1 v.orks will employ about 2000 msn. A consignment of 50 tons of Waikato coal iri being sent Home in order that experiments may be carried out to ascertain it* value in the event of the »vorK3 Icing established."
