PRICE OF GOLD.
NEW' RECORD REACHED. NOW £7 1/5 AN OUNCE. LONDON, September 1. Fine gold is quoted to-day at £7 1/5 an ounce, compared with £7 0/11% yesterday, and £7 0/3 on Thursday. To-day's price is the highest on record, and the last three days' quotations have all exceeded the previous record of £7 on February 5 last. Notwithstanding the increased prices gold mining shares have.been almost unaffected on the London Stock Exchange.
