ON 'CHANGE.
WEEK OPENS QUIETLY. GOVERNMENT STOCKS STEADY. There was a quiet opening to a new week on 'Change to-day, oniy four sales being recorded at the first call. Government stocks were steady, sales of M&'s and '55's heing put through at unchanged rates, after which buyers remained in for all lines. la the banking section Reserves seemed a shade easier, no buyers appearing. Holders were firm at £6 10/. New Zealands were Eteady between £2 7/3 and £2-776. ' Auckland Gas shares were firm at £1 5/7 to £1 6/. Kaiapoi Woollens were in demand at 1-3/3 for' the ordinary, 4/ for contributing, and £1 0/6 for the preferences. Steady at Noon. "Values were steady and the market was still quiet at noon, when only three sales were.put through. [ Offers for Auckland Gas shares were l raised a penny, and for South British: Insurances by 3d.
