BOXING TO-NIGHT.
THREE-NIGHT CARNIVAL BEGINS. The greatest boxing carnival ever 6taged in New Zealand will open at the Town Hall to-night, when the preliminary bouts in the annual Auckland amateur championships will be staged. To-morrow night further elimination contests and the semi-finals will be decided, and on Wednesday night the eight championship finals and the professional contest of 10 rounds between Frank Taylor and Dal Costa will be fought. The amateurs were medically examined to-day, and were all found to be in perfect condition, while the two, professionals are both confident of scoring a win on Wednesday, Taylor believing that he can record another victory over Costa, who is equally sure that he will be able to beat the Aucklander on this occasion. Admission charges for to-night and to-morrow night are very low, but usual prices will be charged on Wednesday evening. Each of the three programmes should be well patronised, as the carnival offers entertainment and thrilling fighting in both amateur and professional contests.
