m TO STUDY UNDER BACKHAUS. (By Tele-graph.—Own Correspondent.) GISBORNE, this day. The news that Miss Oriole Faram, the talented young Gisborne pianist, who lias been studying in London for fovr and a half years, is to have a course under the (.ciebrated .pianist, Wilhelm Backhaus, was brought to Gisborne oy Mrs. IT. IT. Faram, who has returned from I.cndol). Miss Faram has already passed the last and highest examination for which she could sit, and she" intended to return to New Zealand with her mother, but, under the advice or Backhaus, she is to spend another year at the London Academy, and then Study under 3ackhau= himself prior to giving recital.
