OFF TO TAHITI.

~NGATARI'S LONG TRIP.

With the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron'* burgee at the masthead an 1 the Red Ensign flying from the gaff-end, the yacht Ngataki, with Mr. John Wray and a crew of three Auckland yachtsmen., left shortly after three o'clock on Saturday on a cruise to Tahiti. On board are:. Messrs. J. Wray, owner and master; R. Wellington, owner of the yacht Daisy; N. Watson, of the 20-footcr Ngaroma; "and P. McMahon. of the 20footer Starlight's crew. The yacht is provisioned for three months and will make her first call at Sunday Island, in the Kerinadccs. From there she wi'A head for -Tahiti, but plans arc indefinite and may be changed according to circumstances. The Ngataki is 34ft overall, cutter rigged, and has a small auxiliary

engine. On Saturday morning,the wind backed into the south-west, and it was quite fresh as the yacht left the man-o'-war steps, where a large number of the party's friends had gathered, including Mr. J H. Frater, commodore of the "Royals" Three hearty cheers were given as the yacht moved away from the wharf with the engine going. Once clear of the wharf the mainsail and staysail were hoisted and the yacht made jood t.me down harbour on the first part of her long cruise. Her owner expressed his intention to be back in time to compete in the race* to Melbourne, starting on December 8.
