MISS KING HONOURED.
DOUGLAS CREDIT MOVEMENT. ..In honour of Miss M. H. M. King, principal of the Otago Girls' High School, who is visiting Auckland, a social was held in the Fabian Club rooms on Friday evening by members of the Douglas 1 Social Credit Movement. Mr; A. C. Sexton was chairman, and Mrs. E. R.-Arinitage acted as hostess and introduced Miss King to the gathering. 'Miss King thanked the Douglas Social Credit Organisation for their reception, and conveyed greetings from the branch in Dunedin. Items were given by Mrs. A. King, Mr. R. A. Kiddey, Mr. G. Kennedy and Miss M. Andrew. On Saturday evening at the New Women's Club, at which several teachers were present, Mies King spoke of the difficulties under which teachers worked. Children spent years being educated for a job, she said, and when they left school there were no jobs for them. Being educated for'a job was not true education. Schools of any decent size should be equipped with a gymnasium with a staff of instructors, and more time should be spent in music. Miss King also spoke on Douglas Social Credit. Items were rendered by Mrs. Bennett, Miss Ivy Brierley, Messrs. Andrew and,G. Kennedy. Supper was dispensed by Mrs. E. R. Arinitage, and Miss Phillips, president and secretary of the Douglas Social Credit Club. At the Theosophical Society last evening Miss King took as her subject 'Behold, I Stand at the Door," and gave a stirring address.' Mr. E. S.
