HOVE-TO.
STEAMER MARAMA HEAVY GALE IN TASMAN SEA. LINER'S ARRIVAL DELAYED. The steamer Marama is meeting with tempestuous weather on the voyage from Sydney to Auckland, and at noon to-day had been hove-to for over 24 hours in a gale about half-way across t'he Tasman Sea. A message received by the Union Steam Ship Company this morning stated that weather was improving slightly, but it was not known when the Marama would again be put on her course. The Marama left Sydney at 4 p.m. last Friday and under ordinary circumstances should reach Auckland about 7.0 to-morrow morning. She has passengers, mails and cargo for New Zealand. The Marama was to have left Auckland to-morrow evening for Wellington' to complete discharging cargo and take on passengers for Sydney, leaving there next Friday afternoon. The Union Company stated this afternoon that there was no possibility of the Marama reaching Auckland tomorrow.
