SPEEDY AIR TRAVEL.
ROUND WORLD IN 60 DAYS. AMERICAN PILOT'S TRIP. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. On. board the Makura, which arrived to-day from Sydney, is an American mail pilot, Mr. R. Leonard, en route back to. the United States after a quick combined pleasure and business trip round the world. When he arrives back in San Francisco the trip will have tak°.n approximately 60 days. His object has not been to create a record. He said he mentioned the time only to show the possibilities . offered by modern methods of transport! He flew from Los Angeles to Xcw York by a commercial air line and fiow from London to Singapore by the Imperial Airways line. Had he made the best connections at each stage of his journey his time would be cut down to six weeks. Questioned about the Melbourne air race, he said he would probably act as a source of information. He had some interesting matters to report to his company when he returned home.
