AWAITING A WIND

YACHT NGATAKI.

ADDITION TO THE CREW.

STOUTLY-BUILT CRAFT.

Four young men, and not three as originally intended, will form tlie crew of the Auckland yacht Ngataki on her coming Island cruise. The newcomer is Mr.. Nolan Watson, the other members of the crew being Messrs. J. W. Wray, owner and builder, K. Wellington and R. Uobinson,

The yacht, which is now ready for sea, adjusted her compass oft" the dolphin in Hobson Bay this morning and later returned to the Akarana Yacht Club's boathouse, where stores were taken on board this afternoon.

' The Ngataki is expected to sail as coon as a favourable wind from the west or south-west is experienced, it being the hope of the crew that they will be away before the end of the present week. The first call will be Sunday Island, where a landing will be made if the weather is suitable. Plans for the cruise are indefinite; and much will depend upon the weather. If conditions are favourable the yacht will probably proceed from Sunday Island to Tahiti. As tlie cruise is being made entirely for pleasure, the crew are more or less '"easy" where they go. The boat is expected to return to Auckland about the end of November, as she is an intending entry for the trans-Tasnian yacht race to be staged in connection with the Melbourne Centenary celebrations.

A stoutly-built craft, the Ngataki is fitted with an auxiliary engine for use in calm weather and when entering or leaving port. She is a roomy vessel, the headroom in the main cabin being over lift. Her registered net tonnage is 2.02. Much of the gear used in rigging the yacht came from the four-masted barque Kewa.

Mr. Robinson was a member of Admiral Byrd's expedition last year. He i< a Hamilton'maii who spent a number of years in America.
