TO AUCKLAND
(By Cedric . Short, 12, St. Albans Avenue, Mount Eden.) I've come from the country To Auckland for a stay. I like to see the city, If only for. a day. , . Down upon the wharfside I always like to squat To watch the ever-restless tide Or a graceful passing yacht. To. see the screaming seagulls A gliding to and fro As if they haven't really A definite place to go. Auckland's crowds and traffic Give endless joy to me. They hold a fascination I'll always wish to see., Queen Street in the night time Is a maze of dazzling light, With music and colour Which fills me with delight. Farewell to Auckland City— I'm going home once more; But your rare and stately beauty I'm forever waiting for.
