HOSPITAL STAFFS

RESTORATION OF "CUTS."

NO OFFICIAL OBJECTIONS

(By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.)

WELLINGTON, this dav.

The Minister of Health, Mr. Young, will not take exception to any hospital board which had made reductions in salaries and the wages of its staff, following the lead of the Government and restoring 5 per cent of the "cuts."

This announcement was made by the Minister when replying to an urgent question asked by Mr. F. Jones (Labour, Dunedin South). He said that of 45 hospital boards only 17 had made substantial reductions in salaries, and four of the 17 had already made substantial restorations. Xo objection would be taken to any hospital board which had followed the lead of the Government in making-the reductions restoring them.
