THE DEATH PENALTY.
The death penalty is justice, but some credulous communities have executed men because they could not prove their innocence instead of proving them guilty. There is quite a loiiff list of innocent "men who have been hanged. How would Oscar Slater have been compensated if ho had been hanged? Yet at the time of his conviction he was outlawed a* a cold-blooded murderer! A. H. CHAPPLE.
