GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
AUSTRALIAN POLLARD DEARER. POTATOES SHORT OX SPOT. A notable change on the local grain and produce market since last report hae been a firming of the Australian market ■for pollard. As a consequence local merchants have raised their price 5/ to £6 12/6 a ton, which is still below present f.o.b. parity. Local mill prices are unchanged, and there is a good demand for the output of both pollard and bran. Horso Feed. A slight firmness in the Southern oat market that has been evident in recent weeks has now been reflected locally, and B Cartons have moved up Id a bushel to 3/3. Chaff is very eteady at £7 10/ to £7 15/ per ton. . Fowl Wheat. The Southern market for fowl wheat is very firm, and local dealers report that their present rate of 5/ per bushel, ex store, is 3d under Southern f.o.b. parity, which means that a local advance may come at any time. Maize is fairly steady at about 4/ per bushel. New season's has been later in coming on the market than usual, due to unfavourable drying weather. However,! substantial deliveries are expected to be made this month for direct railing from the Bay of Plenty. Xot a great deal has yet reached the city, and what has come to hand is selling at a slight discount under old season's, the difference varying according to the condition of particular lines.
Potatoes and Onions. Although the Southern potato market is weak thu immediate position locally ie firm, duo to interruption of shipping. Merchants arc quoting £6 5/ to £6 10/ per ton, compared with £0 laet week. The onion market is now being supplied almost wholly from Pukekohe. Good quality lines are coming to hand regularly," and are being distributed on ths basis of 11/0 per cwt. New season's Canadian are not expected till October: Wholesale Current Prices. Pollard and Bran. —Mill prices: Pollard, £6 per ton; bran, £0 10/. per ton. Merchants' pricee: Pollard, local, £6 5/ per ton; Australian, £6 12/6; bran, £5 15/. Oate. —Feed: B Gartons, 3/3 per bushel; A Gartons, 3/7; clipped Dunns, 4/3; clipped Algerians, New Zealand, 4/G; clipped Gartone, 3/9. Fowl Wheat.— Canterbury, graded, 5/ per bushel. Maize.— i/ per bushel. Barley.—Feed: Clipped, 4/ per bushel. Seed: Capo. 5/ per bushel. Barley Meal.—B/6 per 1001b. Wheat Meal—B/6 per 1001b. Chaff.—G.b.o.B., £7 10/ to £7 15/ per ton, for Southern. Potatoes.— Tabic: Southern, £6 per ton. Seed: Gamekeeper, Arran Chief and Northern Star, 5/9 per cwt; Early Puritan, Sutton Supreme, and Up to Dates, 7/; Robin Adair. 11/8; Maori Chief 7/9; Iron Duke, 5/0; Epicure, 12/. Onions.—Local, 11/G per cwt.
