BRISK BUSINESS DONE. (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.") CHRISTCIIURCH, this day. Business was keen at this morning's call, and buyers' oilers had a iiriner 111Huence on the market. Waihi Grand Junctions had heavy sales at very linn rates, and among Government securities two sales were recorded at high premiums. There were buyers for every line in the Government section, with more sellers appearing. More 1949 and 1955 stock was wanted after sales, but holders moved up higher still, and no further business was done.

The banking section was again very firm, with an appreciation noticeable in Australasias and New South Wales. Commercials of Australia recovered to 10/10, and more were on otter at Id higher. Buyers for New Zealauds moved up to £2 7/4, but sellers went up with them and were asking £2 7/7. Reserves closed showing an easing tendency without business being recorded. Sellers' limits were 3d lower than yesterday. Among insux'ances Standards had no sellers, while buyers offered £3 6/, and other lines were quiet and steady.

Loan and agency stocks saw Goldsbrough, Morta improve slightly. Dalgetys were round the £9 mark, and United Building Society shares were offered at £1 1/8.

Christchurch Gas were easier between £.1 12/0 and £1 13/1. Kaiapoi Woollens maintained their improvement without sellers coming on the market lor the 17/ paid scrip. In the meat section Refrigerating contributing shares had buyers up to 8/10. Good attention was paid to miscellaneous scrip, two parcels of Australian Iron and Steel (preference) changing hands, with more wanted, and' Electrolytic Zinc having business bqth for the ordinary and preference issues. Dunlop Rubbers eased on buyers' offers of 19/5.

The mining section had quiet business, Goldficlds Dredging and Bell Hoopers heading the sales list at 1/2 and 5%d respectively. Mining House Concessions had weaker quotations of buyers Id and sellers 4d. Good business was done in Grand Junctions at the firm rate of 4/3. For Waihis, which had recent sales at £1 12/6, holders were prepared to take 6d more.
