Heavy rain started, just after the kick-off, and, with a ground ' already sloppy, conditions were most unpleasant. The Grammar forwards lad the better of the early part of the game, but, reiying upon back movements to finalise, they wore beaten by the greasy state of the ball.

Before the'second half commenced the sun broke through and the ball quickly dried, and the backs on both sides were able to handle more freely.

Play was hard and even, with Marists gradually assuming the ascendancy, when they had the misfortune to lose the services of their winger, Loombe, who was ordered off for striking a Grammar forward. With one man less to beat Grammar set up a determined attack, which brought its reward when Pollock dribbled over the line and Macbeth touched down. The kick at goal missed. For the remainder of the spell the whites battled hard to get a win but Marists' tackling was sound and the game ended without further score. Marists 3 Grammar 3 Mr. .""i G. Gasparicb. was referee.
