"THE DUBARRY." The staff of mechanists and electricians for the production of J. C. Williamson's spectacular comic opera "The Dubarry," which is to be staged at His Majesty's Theatre on Saturday night, ars effecting a number of alterations to permit the production to be staged with the same completness as the Sydney and Melbourne representations. It is said that Sylvia Welling is the possessor of a fine soprano voice, and is also a brilliant actress. John Dudley created a sensation when he made his appearance in "Waltzes of Vienna, his tenor voice being compared favourably with any previously heard in comic opera. It was in "The Dubarry," however, that lie achieved his outstanding success, his singing of "If I am Dreaming" proving one of the "hits" of the piece. Playgoers will be glad to welcome back to New Zealand those two sterling artists Cecil Kelleway and Leslie Holland. Ivy Kirby, principal dancer, was a member of the late Pavlova's company. ROBIN HOOD PAGEANT. On a high note of enthusiasm the extended season of the magnificent pageant Robin Hood was brought to a conclusion at the Town Hall on Saturday night. At the matinee in the afternoon and at the final presentation in the evening there were large audiences. Last scene of all was an expression of thanks, before the curtain, by the organiser, Rev. George Coats, to all who had co-operated with the Girls' Friendly Society in' making the colourful pageant such a memorable success. Authors, musicians and scenic artists were called on to the stage before the assembled performers, and each was greeted with enthusiastic applause. SOCIETY OF MUSICIANS. The second of a series of concerts was presented by the Auckland Society of Musicians in the Lewis Eady Hall yesterday afternoon. Delightful tone and even balance marked the performance of Bach's double concerto in D Minor, played by Mr. Vincent Aspey (first violin), Miss Helen Gray (second violin) and Miss Jean Clarkson (piano). Mr. Alfred Pascoe played a transcription of Bach's chorale, "Jesu; Joy of Man's Desiring," and organ prelude and fugue in A Minor. Miss Dora Judson played a fugue in B flat major, a fantasia in C minor, as well as a saraband and gigue in her usual accomplished manner. Miss L. Bloy showed great promise in her performance of two violin solos. "Pr'aeludium" and "Gavotte' (Bach). Miss Gwenda Weir sang with much taste. "O Sleep, Why Dost Thou Leave Me?" "Oh, Had I Jubal's Lyre" and "How Beautiful Are The Feet," all by Handel. . Mr. Roger Evrington'S ) pleasant tenor voice was heard in Handel's beautiful "Where'er You Walk" and "Love Sounds the Alarm." Bach's aria, "Mighty Lord and King All Glorious" was sung by Mr. Harold Davis. MUNICIPAL BAND. Continuing their winter concerts, a fine programme was given by the Municipal Band at the Auckland Town Hall last evening. The selection, "Reminiscences of Grieg," was much admired, while the popular selection from "Our Miss Gibbs" and "La Princess Jeune" were fine. Miss Adele Taylor (soprano) sang 'two_ numbers and was recalled on each' occasion. Mr. Fred Bowes was also recalled for his cornet solo. During the afternoon a programme was given in the Zoological Park.
