Mr. C. J. Tunks leaves for Wellington by the express this afternoon. Mr. N. R. Chapman, secretary of the Auckland Milk Council, returned from Wellington this morning. Mr. A. A. McLean, of Tisdalls, Ltd., Christchurch, has been transferred to Hamilton as manager there. The Hon. G. J. Smith and the Hon. C. J. Trevethick, M.L.C.'s, leave for Wellington by the Limited to-night. Mr. W. G. Wohlmann, Commissioner of Police, arrived in Auckland this morning on official business and leaves again for Wellington to-night. Messrs. W. R. Carey and F. W. Johnston will represent the Canterbury Automobile Association at the annual meeting of the North Island Motor Union in Napier this week. Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., has been appointed under the Urban Farm Land Rating Act to be judge of the Assessment Court for the town district of Papatoetoe. The Rev. H. L. R. Isherwood, recently of the Bay of Islands, has taken over the duties of vicar of Northcote. He preached yesterday at St. John the Baptist Church. Mr. A. Grayson, president, and Mr. G. W. Hutchison, secretary, of the Automobile Association, leave by car on Wednesday for Napier to attend the conference of the North Island Motor Union. They expect to return on Sunday. Air. A. R. Sclanders has been appointed a director on the New Zealand board of the Norwich Union Life Insurance Society, and Dr. S. D. Rhind has been appointed chief medical officer of the society in New Zealand.
