SIR JOHN SIMON NOT JEWISH. (Received 9.30 n.m.) LONDON, August 5. Tho Foreign Secretary, Sir John Simon, has issvied a denial of statements that he is Jewish and allegations that his ancestry has influenced his foreign policy in the National Government. Sir John states that he did not deny the rumours earlier as it might have been distorted into evidence that he sympathised with anti-Semitism. "I have Jewish friends whose patriotic services should shame critics," says the Minister. "1 would not for words hurt their feelings, or write as though their ancient and honourable lineage could possibly be a matter of reproach."
