OTAMATEA V. MANGONUI. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Saturday. It was a pity that rain to-day spoiled what promised to be a first-class Rugby exposition between Otainutea (holders) and Mungonui for the Harding Shield. The match .was played at Waipu in pour ing rain and ended in a win for the holder*, by r> points io nil. The issue was fought out between two solid packs of forwards and (here was nothing of the spectacular OtannitPii asserted themselves towards flu end of ,lhe first: spell. Fergus went round the side of a scrum to raise the first points. Harty kicked an easy goal. Tbb second spell was scoreless. Mnngo nui made a gallant bid. but the holderswere too strong ami the match ended : "Otamatea 0, Mangonui 0.
