LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

CONTROL BOARD MATTERS.

MOUNT ALBERT IN B.OOPE ROOSTER. NORTHLAND ON SATURDAY WEEK. At the meeting of the control board of the Auckland Rugby League last evening, Mr. Grey Campbell presiding, it was announced that the senior fixtures for Saturday would be as arranged for last Saturday, with the principal match being the contest between Richmond and Ponsonby. a match which the chairman considered would be one of the finest contests of a remarkable season. The only second grade fixture will take place between Papakura and Mangere at Waiuku. A deputation was received from the Mount Albert United Club asking for the right to nominate a team for the Roope Rooster knock-out competition. The nomination was accepted. The transfers of the ex-Marist players, C. V. List, G. Flannagan, G. Campbell, J. L. and Bert Schultz (I). Herring and G. Gunn to follow) to Mount Albeit, were confirmed. It was stated that Mr. J. Johnson had been appointed coach and Messrs. Duane and Mooney were serving on tho committee.

The Northland Rugby League advised that its touring team, in the course of its first North Island tour, would arrive in Auckland on August 10 for its match against Auckland at Carlaw Park the next day. The party of 20 members will stay at Hotel Auckland. A special return train from Whangarei was being run on August 11, and it was noticed that the Railway Department, in its posters, was not referring to the match at Carlaw Park.

The second grade match between Mount Albert and Otahuhu was approved as the curtain-raiser for Saturday week.

The junior management committee's resolution in regard to the taking of junior players by senior clubs, was deferred pending the decision of the Council of the New Zealand League on the l'onsonby Club's appeal. Permission was granted to the Richmond senior team to play a special match in Hawke's Bay on Saturday week, preceded by a match in Taranaki on the Thursday. Mr. Grey Campbell said that the enterprise would amount to fulfilling an obligation to the Southern Leaguee, as the Richmond team contained a strong percentage of the representative players of this city. The Taranaki match will take place at either New Plymouth or Inglewood. The Auckland Referees' Association's amended constitution was received, and will be dealt with at a later meeting. Mr. J. F. W. Dickson was thanked for presentation of two handsome special gold medals to be awarded to the most sportsmanlike senior and junior player. Reinstatements: F. J. Nadin (who made no appearance) and J.
