Gibsons, the Worcestershire cricketer, is the first batsman to score 2000 runs in England this summer. The Nawab of Pataudi is suffering from nerve strain, and will not play again for Worcestershire this season.

AMATEURS WIN.
BEAT PLAYERS BY 7 WICKETS. (Received 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, July 27. The amateurs, scoring 263 and 232 for three wickets, defeated the professionals, 247 and 245 for five wickets, declared.
A. Mitchell (Yorkshire) scored 120 in the professionals' second innings.
For the amateurs R. E. S. Wyatt (104) and C. F. Walters (79) -were top-scorers in the final innings.

Fighting fiercely from the start, Nel Tarleton out-pointed "Seaman" Watson, the title-holder, in a bout for the British feather-weight boxing championship. The contest took place at Liverpool.
