Blue Star Line Inaugurates New Service. QUEENSLAND CHILLED MEAT. (Received 11 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. The new monthly shipping service between Queensland and British ports was inaugurated with the arrival here of the Blue Star Line Albion Star. Fast motor ships will be placed in the service early next year. These will be able to carry chilled meat, which Queensland is placing on the British market in increasing quantity. TO CROSS ATLANTIC. BRITISH CHALLENGE YACHT. (British Official Wireless.) (Received 2 p.m.) RUGBY, July 23. A large crowd gathered at Portsmouth to cheer Mr. T. O. M. Sopwith's yacht Endeavour, British challenger for the America Cup, when she left on her transatlantic voyage, escorted by the same owners motor yacht Vita. Members of the racing crew, most of whom are amateur yachtsmen, joined the Endeavour yesterday. The challenger has given a highly satisfactory account of herself in her trials in the past few weeks. . DEATHS NUMBER 272. TERRIFIC HEAT WAVE IN U.S.A. . ' * (Received 10 a.m.) CHICAGO, July 23. The terrific heat wave in the central and south-western States continued today. The deaths now n.umber 272 in the past five days. Crops have been ruined and failing water supplies are responsible for the loss of thousands of head of cattle. Crop loss is estimated at millions of dollars.
