POWER BOARD MANAGER. GRASP OF DEVELOPMENTS. In order to bring the board and himself thoroughly up to date in electrical supply matters, Mr. E. H. Bartley, general manager of t.he Auckland Electric Power Board, is to visit oversea countries, particularly England and the Continent. At a meeting of the board in committee the chairman, Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, had suggested that it would be of great benefit to the board in many ways to have the latest ideas and knowledge of electrical matters available, in view of the tremendous development along those lines in recent years. At the present time important departures were being made from what had. hitherto been staudard practice and the use of electricity was being extended in many directioas. . Members at yesterday's meeting of the board were enthusiastic concerning the scheme, and it was thought that Mr. Bartley might be able to make inquiries in England with regard to the possible conversion of the board's oversell indebtedness. "It will be a great advantage to have Mr. Bartley keep in _ touch with the progress being made in the industry, gaid Mr. Holdsworth. "In view of the great system by which the_ supply of power has been consolidated in England, I think it will be a big saving to this board to have Mr. Bartley's information placed at our disposal." In repiy to Mr. J. Dempsey, it was stated that the resolution was wide enough to embrace a visit by Mr. Bartley to America. He would leave at the end of August.
