SCHOOL ATHLETES.
TEAM FOR MELBOURNE. FIVE AUCKLANDERS INCLUDED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Saturday. Representatives of secondary school amateur atlilftic associations of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and Dunedin met to-day to make all necessary arrangements and to select a team of secondary school athletes to represent New Zealand at the inter-Empire public school sports in Melbourne on November 16 and 17. The team chosen is:— O. I. Bickerstaff, of Napier Boys' High School. F. E. Watt, of Auckland " Grammar School. A. J. Sayers, of Auckland Grammar School. B. D. Clarke, of Mount Albert Grammar School. E. Wordsworth, of Sacred Heart College. H. Steele, of Rotorua High School. P. G. McLauchlan, of Southland Boys' High School. W. B. Coxhead, of Mount Albert Grammar School. D. F. Wilson, of Waitaki Boys' High I School. The party leaves about the end of Octpber or early in November. Sayers won the 100 yards, 220 yards, and 440 yards in the senior championships at the Auckland secondary schools' athletic tournament held last April. He is also a member of the Grammar School Rugby team. Watt is a distance runner and holds the Auckland secondary schools' mile record of 4.33 3-5. Clarke is a sprinter. At the last championships he ran second to Sayers in the 100 and 440 events. Coxhead is - the secondary scheols , discus and shot-putting champion. Wordsworth (Sacred Heart) Iβ the secondary schools' middle distance champion. At the April tournament he established the record of 2.2 3-5 for the half mile.
