RIFLE SHOOTING.
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB. The City Club opened its winter service series at Penrose on Saturday afternoon at 300 yards in perfect weather. The shooting was below form, especially in the "application." The following are the scores off the rifle:— C. J. M. Clark, application 42, rapid 42, snap 37---total 121 ; G. G. Kelly, 40. 34, 43 —117; S. C. Parkinson, 43, 42, 23— 10S; A. G. Robertson, 40, 39, 20—105; F. Bowes. 44, 3S, 20—102; J. M. Jessop 41, 23, 30—100 ; IT Simmonds, 39, 38, 17 —94; W. G. Boyd, 42, 34, 17—93; H. G. Collingwood, 37, 35, 5—77 ; A. W. Harris 40, 23, 12—75; 11. Cameron 40, 16, 8 — 64; D. Verrall, 33, 20, 0—53 ; T. Nealis, 27, 24, o—sl. In the teams shoot, City v. Akarana, City won by the narrow margin of two points. The final scores were : —City 737, Akarana 735.
