PREMIERSHIP MATCHES.
NEWTON AND RICHMOND AGAIN
KEENNESS FOR THIRD ROUND
The match of the season is expected at Carlaw Park to-morrow when Newton Hangers will meet Richmond Rovers in j the ojienmg series of the Auckland Rugby League's third championship round. In their first meeting Richmond obtained a comfortable win by IS—l, but the Rangers were able to force the issue in the next test to the mere point—a goal to a try— in one of the most spectacular contests staged this year. The Rovers received their first narrow defeat on Saturday. The Newton team, although a shade lucky to avoid a loss to Marists last time out. when two changes in personnel included the first appearance of Roy Hardgrave, should be at its best for this clash, which should be a. thrilling struggle back and forward. City, who came back to form by trouncing Ponsonby. should provide a fine curtain-raiser with Devonport as their opponents. Out at Oneliunga Marists and Ponsonby will meet in the first senior fixture played away from headquarters. Teams: — RICHMOND ROVERS. Seniors.—Cooke. McNeil, Mincham, Mitchell, J.
