FLYER DISQUALIFIED.
Noted American Entrant for Air Race Protests. FRENCH PRIZES OFFERED. (Received 11 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 10. A Detroit message states that Roscoc Turner, the holder of many trans-continental speed records, says that the Royal Aero Club has disqualified his entry for the Centenary air race from London to Melbourne on a technicality in the application form. "It seems the committee, instead of helping American pilots to compete, is trying to see how many can be kept out,'' lie said. The technicality concerned t!ie type of 'plane he will use.
A Paris dispatch states that the Air Ministry announces that direct participation in the Centenary air race is not contemplated, but in order to encourage private initiative 150,000 francs will be awarded to the fastest Frenchman and 50,000 francs for the first French entrant in the. handicap section.
