LADY HAIRDRESSERS.
ANNUAL BALL HELD.
A large number of guests attended the first annual ball of the .Society of -Master Ladies* Hairdressers of New Zealand, which was held in the Peter Pan Cabaret last evening. Novel decorations took the form of illuminated shields showing modern hairdressing, which were placed in front of the orchestral dais, while howls of wattle and golden and yellow Iceland poppies added a further touch of colour. During the interval for supper the president announced that shortly there would be a permanentwaving competition for the Hennes .Shield. This would be the lirst hairdressing competition to be held in the southern hemisphere. An exhibition of modern ballroom dancing, given during the evening by Miss Ballantync and Mr. Bradley, and a tap-dance by Mr. Hartneady and Mr. Hill, were much enr'joyed, and novelties in the form "of caps land balloons and prizes which had been donated by various firms added further to the entertainment.
The guests were received bv the president, Mr. E. O'Hara, and Mrs. O'Hara. the latter wearing a frock of black panne velvet and ermine tails. Ladies on the committee present were: Mrs. Murray Wiseman, who wore black georgette, relieved with silver; Mrs. C. Gillespie, black angel skin lace;' Mrs. E. C. Hubber, deep wine ring velvet and lame; Miss O. Braithwaite, electric blue crepe suede.
Also present were: Mrs. Gr. Jackson, old rose satin; Mrs. J. I. Alae, black windswept velvet; Mrs. St. Clair Woollams, black lace; Mr. W. Dickinson, Chinese red velvet; Mrs.'A. E. Ove.iden. forest green crepe suede; Mrs. R. Spear, black inarocain; Mrs. W. S. Hill, deep cream satin; Mrs. K. Whitburn, flame coloured velvet; Mrs. G. Preston, deep cream broche; Miss B. Wiseman, gold lame; Miss Joy Preston, cherry taffeta; Miss E. Morrison, deep cream crepe satin; Miss G. Irwin, black marocain; Miss K. Jacobsen, Naples blue windswept velvet; Miss Ida Kosser, palest green satin; Miss P. Parker, wine coloured georgette; Mis Nellie Bee, black tische net; Miss Forshaw, forest green velvet; Miss S. Davison, champagne coloured satin; Miss G. Viscoc, black and gold lame; Miss B. Tichcner, deep cream crepe suede; Miss W. Garner, black pebble crepe; Miss T. Williams, black windswept velvet; Miss Birch, green and silver lame; Miss P. Hallctt, black taffeta; Miss O. Bane, deep cream georgette and silver lame; Miss D. Lrinaby, ivory lace; Miss E. Sword, peivenobe blue windswept velvet; Miss I. Duckworth, delphinium blue taffeta.
