MEETING AT BIRKENHEAD. The sum of £6 3/ was raised for the Auckland Community Sunshine Association at yesterday afternoon's gathering of the Birkenhead Women's Association; held in the Buffalo Hall, by means of a "bring and buy" stall, in charge of the Mayoress, Mrs" G. The dramatic circle, just formed, is to hold readings of plays on the first Tuesday in each month, and. rehearsals by groups will be held at the. homes of members. The proposal to establish a public library at Birkenhead was heartily supported, a report on the preliminary steps taken being received from the provisional secretary, Miss Irene M. t AVood, who stated that a public meeting was to be convened by the Mayor, and an appeal for books made for the nucleus of a library.
