THE ANNUAL MEETING.
At-the annual meeting of the New Zealand Referees' Association Mr. J. X. Mil presided over a representative attendance. The Tuakau team, which recently performed well at Carlaw Park, played a strong Huntly team at Crawford Park on Saturday, being defeated by 20-12. For the winners tries were scored by 1. Singer, M. lee, 'J. Allen and 1 Emms. Singer converted two, and he and Knight kicked 0. penalty, For Tuakau, who lacked only in forward play, try-getters were K. Cooper (2), J. Cooper and B. Jlapi. NORTH ISLAND TEAM. The name of Prentice, the Richmond Rovers' captain, is included in the Auckland nominations for the North Island team. AFFAIRS OF REFEREES. The Papakura Club, in thanking the Auckland League Referees' Association for a lecture on rules by Mr. Billman, expressed appreciation ot' the referee control of all matches in which the club had been engaged this season. The New Zealand Referees' Association notified that when a referee ordered a player to play the ball it was a ruling. It also was decided that no delegate was permitted to vote at meetings on a recommendation dealing with the appointment of a referee for which position lie is nominated to control an iiiterprovincial match. It was decided to issue a final general instruction to members that the play the ball rule must in future be strictly enforced. A hearty welcome was accorded Roy Hardgrave, who gave a general explanation of the rules and interpretations as lip found the different points applied in England.
