SUCCESSFUL JUNIOR APPEAL.

MARIST CLUB EEPEECUSSIONS.

The Auckland Rugby League control board met last evening, Mr. G. Grey Campbell presiding.

The feature match on Saturday will be between the two unbeaten teams in the second round, Richmond and Devonport, preceded by the Newton-Marist fixture. In response to a letter from the New Zealand Council in connection with the inter-Island match, it was decided to ask the Auckland selectors to nominate a suitable sole -North Island selector, In reply to an inquiry it was decided to favourably consider sending an Auckland representative team to Hawke's Bay at an early date. The secretary was instructed to write the Southern League as to possible gate or guarantee, and to procure details of the cost of transport. The Tuakau (Lower Waikato) League wrote thanking the Auckland body _ for the manner in which its team was received and for the opportunity to appear at Carlaw Park. It was stated that the Huntly team was playing at Crawford Park, Tuakau, on Saturday, and asked for an Auckland referee. Mr. L. Binns was asked to attend to the request. The Mangere Club and Mr. A. Asher (Tuakau coach) were thanked for their services. The Otahuhu Rogers' appeal against the junior board in extending the championship to three rounds, was upheld, on the ground that the clubs concerned were not notified. Mr. Wilkie said that his committee had merely done this to keep the competition going. The chairman said the decision to extend the rounds was made, no" doubt, in good faith, but too soon, and the management would have to make other arrangements for a special competition. The decision of the League also applied to the sixth and seventh grades. An application from Taupiri for a. match with an Auckland club side at Carlaw Park, was rejected owing to the need for maintaining the club programme adopted. The Taupiri Club was advised, however, that it could enter in the Roope Rooster knockout competition. , . , The Marist Old Boys' Club advised that it was appealing to the New Zealand Council against the decision of the control board in denying the right of the •club to suspend a number of players, who had refused to plsiy and acknowledge the eh'b ooipmittee. The board decided to send the appeal on to the council, asking it to cxnedite the matter, if possible, this week. Seven of the players concerned also appeared. They reported that four ot their number had applied to the club tor transfers, which were refused. The chairman pointed out that in view of the club's appeal the matter- would have to stand in abeyance. He advised the four players, who made applications for transfers, to enter appeals, which coukl bo lodged, pending the council s judgment on the club's appeal. , A deputation from the primary schools management complained that boys playing at a certain school were being victimised for playing Rugby League, it was decided to write the headmaster Mid school committee and to pursue Jpe matter through the right quarters as found necessary. , ~ Mr. D. de Mouneey, secretary of _ the Auckland Girls' Band, wrote _ officially thanking the management for the rece use of Carlaw Park. , . , The Ellerslie United Club thanked the chairman and Mr. Probert for attending matches in the suburb on Saturday. Mr. J. B. Donald was thanked for a donation of £15 15/ towards the Bandstand fund. The secretary reported that another supporter had offered £5 any extra facilities to the ambulance loom in tha stand. '
