TEAM TO MEET WELLINGTON.

Mr. A. 13. Backhouse lias summoned tlie same team us played aguinst Utago for training for the challenge by Wellington on July 14, lor the I<\A. Trophy. The selector states, however, that the team is subject to alteration on the announcement of the Wellington side. After the game against the team from Duuedin there were many wlio saw weaknesses tliat could liave been remedied, and tliat Wellington would seem likely to proiit by. After the display of Cameron on Saturday it is dltlicult to sec why lie is not given a place. Whatever team Wellington selects should make no difference to the goalkeeper, and Cameron is undoubtedly the best club 'keeper liere. It has been said that Cameron's chances have been affected by the fact that he is a second grade player, but that surely is most unfair to Cameron, and certainly no credit to Auckland. Whether a player is in the senior grade or in the seventh grade, if lie is the best man for any position his selection should not be denied him. If this is the reason for the exclusion of Abels goalio then it is a grave injustice. The Chatham Cup game on Saturday also brought out the brilliance of Haggett, and his game in the conditions was one that will be long remembered. He is unsurpassed for speed, his nippiness and his length of kick on sodden ground, and as a young player of such promise should be encouraged by rep. honours. There is a possibility that the unfortunate accident with which Chapman met on Saturday will keep him out of the game l'or some considerable time, and should this bo so a rearrangement of the middle line will be necessary. The problem will be to find a left-half, for it is unbelievable that Wright would again be played on the flank after the game against Otago. Left half-backs are scarce these times. Grant has staged a veritable come back of recent games and though in the veteran stage in point of playing years, he is still a tower of strength and some of his vigour would be useful against Wellington. Evidently Mr. Backhouse is satisfied with his forward line, but if players of the calibre of Jeffries, Campbell, Hanlon and Guest come North, different methods will be necessary than those used against Otago.

Tlio following eleven players will assemble at Blandford Park on Tuesday evening at 7.30 p.m. for training in view of the F. A. Trophy challenge match against Wellington on Blandford Park on July 14: Watson (Ponsonby), Gerrard, li. Stone, Watson (Thistle}, Chapman, Wright, Woods, Dunsinore (captain), Angus, Faruan, Kay. HAMILTON DISPUTE. EXECUTIVE RESIGNS EN BLOC. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, Saturday. Maintaining tliat (lie action of the New Zealand Council in ruling that the suspension of the Hamilton Wanderers' Club by the association should be uplifted immediately was tantamount to a vote of no confidence, the executive of the South Auckland Football Association resigned en bloc at a special meeting this afternoon. A letter was received from certain members of the Wanderers' Club stating that regret would be felt if the executive resigned and that the club regarded the incident as closed Mr. F. T. Mills said the council's ultimatum was a Slur 011 the association and the secretary. He had no intention of assisting further in the management of the game. Mr. F. W. Meade, secretary, felt that the council bad treated the association very unfairly. It had held the association's records to be inaccurate without any' evidence, and liad made a public statement 011 figures which had not been proved. He regarded the letter from the Wanderers players as a direct insult to i the association since some of the signatories had adopted a far from harmonious attitude in the past. Mr. King expressed the opinion that the Wanderers' letter was obviously insincere since the.v refused to withdraw the statement' which caused all the trouble. Mr. Mills: If we lie down to this the public will' infer tliat a club can dictate to the management committee. 1 The resolution deciding to resign was i carried unanimously.
